Family seeks justice for man killed in St. Charles Parish Sunday

Casey Ferrand (WTDN) -- The family of a man who was shot and killed in Ama, La. Sunday spoke exclusively to WTDN, Talk Dat NOLA™ about the shooting and their search for justice.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Department is searching for the suspects involved in the deadly shooting that happened around 9 p.m. Sunday. Deputies said 36-year-old Darnell Ingram was found dead in a car after it had crashed in the median between Vidal and Triche streets in Ama.

According to the sheriff, deputies found Ingram inside his crashed Mercedes-Benz when they were called to respond to gunshots in the area. Detectives said the evidence lead them to determine that Ingram was the victim of the shooting just before he crashed.

Ingram's sister, Shatara Diggs, said he meant everything to his family. She described him as loyal and selfless. The family believes Ingram was lured into an ambush by someone he knew and was attempting to get away when he was shot and killed.

They are pleading with the community for answers and asking anyone with information to come forward so that justice can be served.

Funeral services for Ingram have been set for Saturday July 18, 2020 at Mount Zion Community church located at 107 Magnolia Ridge Road in Boutte, LA 70039. The public visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m.
